Plan your gas inspection

Follow our practical tips and gather all the necessary documents to get your gas inspection quickly and stress-free

Mandatory:

  • The presence of a person on site to grant access to the entire installation, ideally the installer.
  • The EAN code identifying the connection of the electrical installation, as indicated on your electricity bill. The EAN code consists of 18 digits.

Where can you find your EAN number?

  • The gas meter and gas consumption appliances must be installed. Without them, we cannot perform the inspection. The meter does not necessarily need to be installed in Flanders (Fluvius/Eandis), nor in the regions served by ORES and Brussels (Sibelga).
  • If your installation (gas piping) dates from after 24/09/2014:
    • The isometric diagram of the installation, prepared and signed by the installer. If this diagram has not been prepared and you require our assistance, please contact us as soon as possible so we can adjust your order; an additional fee will apply. Without order adjustment, the inspection will be deemed non-compliant.
  • If your installation (gas piping) dates from before 24/09/2014:
    • The gas piping layout plan.
  • The user manuals and installation instructions for gas appliances.
  • A T-connection properly sealed with a plug or metal cap must be installed near the meter (see standards for configuration options). It will be used to perform the leak test during inspections for meter activation. Without it, we cannot perform the inspection. This has been mandatory since 1957.
  • The Article 48 certificate is a required document for meter activation. This digital Art. 48 certificate (Elgacert) must be provided by the client or installer on the day of the inspection. Attention: Paper conformity certificates are no longer accepted by natural gas distribution system operators since 1 January 2024. To comply, please use Elgacert (www.elgacert.be) to create your conformity certificates digitally. Elgacert is a web application developed by Gas.be according to the current natural gas meter opening procedure, allowing installation companies and inspection bodies to create, archive, and automatically transmit digital documents to end customers. Each Cerga-certified installer has received a unique activation code for the Elgacert platform. If your company has the Cerga label but has not yet received an activation code, request it via info@elgacert.be.
  • The previous inspection reports, if your installation has already been inspected.
