The General Regulations on Electrical Installations (RGIE) require a compliance inspection for every charging point or home battery installed in Belgium.
Every charging point for electric vehicles must be inspected before commissioning. The RGIE report is mandatory.
A battery storage system modifies your electrical installation. A compliance inspection is required under the RGIE.
The grid operator requires a compliance report to activate the meter or validate modifications.
Upon sale, the electrical inspection report (including the charging point and/or battery) must be handed over to the buyer.

Is the inspection of my charging point mandatory?
Yes. Under the RGIE, every charging point for electric vehicles constitutes a modification to your electrical installation and must be inspected before commissioning by an approved body.
Do I also need to have my home battery inspected?
Yes. A home battery (energy storage system) significantly modifies your electrical installation. The RGIE requires an inspection to ensure safety: fire, overheating and short-circuit risks must be checked.
Is the report valid for a property sale?
Absolutely. Our inspection report is an official document recognised by all notaries in Belgium. It is part of the mandatory documents to be handed over to the buyer upon sale.
How long is the report valid?
If your installation is compliant, the report is valid for 25 years. In case of non-compliance, you have 18 months to carry out the remedial works, after which a reinspection is required.
Can my electrician or installer carry out the inspection?
No. Only a body approved by the FPS Economy may carry out this inspection and issue an official inspection report. Your installer, however qualified, may not certify their own installation.
What if my installation is not compliant?
Don’t panic! Our inspector will clearly explain the points that need to be corrected. You have 18 months to carry out the works. We can refer you to qualified electricians and then schedule the reinspection.
What documents should I prepare?
Please provide the up-to-date single-line diagram of your installation, the conformity certificates for the equipment (charging point, battery), and ideally the technical data sheets of the installed material. Your installer should normally provide you with these documents.
